The Motability Scheme

Motability was set up by the government in 1977 and has supplied more than 1.7 million cars and powered wheelchairs to disabled customers.
Motability was established to provide disabled people with safe, reliable and affordable cars. You can use this scheme to hire or buy a car or powered wheelchair or scooter if you have been awarded Disability Living Allowance (DLA) high rate mobility component (or War Pensioners’ Mobility Supplement).

Fantastic Scheme, however, the other day I see a nice new Honda Type-R pull up and park in a disabled spot.  Now your probably thinking the same as me, its just someone ignorant c**t thinking they can park where they like, but no they had a disability badge.  I watched them get out and could really see what was wrong with them, but im not to judge their personal health.  But it seems to becoming a regurlar occurance of so called disabled people driving flash sports cars or cars that would be considered inappropriate for their circumstances, not to mention the cost of some of these cars. But you cant put a price on your health, well looks as though someone has and quite a high price theyve put on it.

I think that the mobility scheme is a good idea, although I think that it should be monitored a little more closely.  Instead of given the people the money to go buy or hire the car they should have a selection of practical cars which they can choose from.  Maybe even setting up a deal with a car company to produce a car range for disabled people and include a complete package including servicing etc, this way it will stop so called disabled people buying flash sports cars with their allowance, because if they are able to drive a car like that then they dont need a mobility allowance.
